DSLD only builds energy-efficient new homes, and we do it well! The processes and products we use lead to lower long-term ownership costs and happier homeowners. Your new home will have more than just high-efficiency appliances. We start with the foundation!

  • Tight Building Envelope:

    We start your new home by creating a tight “building envelope.” This series of systems make up the enclosure of the conditioned space in the home, allowing very little air to leak in or out of the structure. Less air leakage means lower energy bills for you!

  • Weather-Resistant Barrier:

    The weather-resistant barrier helps keep your home comfortable and dry by reducing air flow into your home. Using home wrap allows your insulation to perform better, somewhat like wearing a windbreaker over a sweater.

  • Radiant Barrier Roof Decking:

    DSLD installs radiant barrier roof decking in every one of its homes to filter out 97% of radiant heat. This keeps your attic up to 30°F cooler in the summer and can reduce energy bills up to 15%. Best yet, this feature does not require any maintenance throughout your home’s lifetime. *Radiant Barrier Roof Decking not available in all communities due to limited supplies.

  • High Density R-15 Bibs Wall Insulation:

    In building our energy-efficient homes, DSLD uses an advanced blown wall insulation method called BIBS, or “blown in blanket system.” Major benefits of this system include higher R-values, and more consistent insulation around outlets and other obstructions that normally create voids when using less advanced insulation systems. All of this means more energy savings throughout the life of your home.

  • Attic Insulation R-38 Fiberglass Loose Fill:

    Your new DSLD home will have R-38 Fiberglass Loose Fill. This insulation has a more consistent R-value and will not settle like Cellulose. It is also naturally fire resistant.

  • Low E3 Windows:

    Our homes feature highly advanced, double-insulated Low-E3 windows. These energy-efficient windows incorporate a nearly invisible metallic coating that reduces the amount of heat passing through the window by 64% compared to ordinary glass. Thus, cold air stays in during the summer, and out during the winter, reducing your heating/cooling bills.

  • Tankless Water Heaters:

    When gas service is available in subdivisions, DSLD typically installs energy- efficient tankless water heaters. (Varies per community) These provide energy savings by heating water only in periods of demand, rather than keeping a tank of water heated at all times. This system reduces your energy bills and provides a continuous supply of hot water. That means you can fill bathtubs without waiting for the hot water supply to replenish. No more cold showers when you have company in town for the holidays!
